Becks Thorn Scoops Autocar Drivers of Change Awards

Earlier this month, former Mission Motorsport - The Forces'​ Motorsport Charity employee Rebecca Thorn at Stellantis UK was honoured at the Autocar Drivers of Change Awards, a vivid example that your service skills count in the civilian world. Stellantis’ Armed Forces Programme, developed in conjunction with our Mission Automotive initiative, offers free technical & commercial training, tailored placements and mentorship. Its success paved the way for the new Rising Stars initiative, now opening doors for other less-traditional talent. Automotive to Defence Industry Support Webinar

On 17 November 2025, Mission Community hosted the second webinar in its Automotive to Defence series, in partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence and Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) . The session brought together MOD procurement leads, industry experts, and employers like Cummins UK to share practical insights on entering the defence sector and engaging Armed Forces talent. Attendees received guidance on the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), the Armed Forces Covenant, and upcoming MOD support such as the SME Support Centre (launching 2026). The webinar also introduced tools to help automotive SMEs assess readiness, enhance ESG performance, and access defence supply chains more effectively.
